Career

Lourdes is counsel of Von Wobeser y Sierra with approximately fifteen years of experience in the International Trade & Customs and Tax practices. She is part of the Automotive & Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, and Pharmaceutical & Life Sciences industry groups.

She advises her clients in the interpretation and application of the free trade agreements Mexico is party to. She also guides them in taking full advantage of governmental investment programs (including IMMEX, Prosec and in the certification of VAT and IEPS, and AEO [Authorized Economic Operator]) and compliance with their requirements. Lourdes has extensive knowledge of the operations of the automotive industry which allows her to advise different agents of the production chain, including original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and auto parts companies. She has successfully participated in verification of origin and antidumping investigation proceedings. With her knowledge the rules applicable to the tariff classification of goods, as well as the compliance with the applicable non-tariff regulations and restrictions, her clients can make the best decisions on importing and exporting into and out of Mexico. Lourdes has represented important companies in administrative proceedings and litigation, amparo cases and conclusive agreements before the Tax Ombudsman (Prodecon). She also counsels on standardization (NOM) before different authorities and agencies and regulation before the Federal Commission for Protection from Sanitary Risks (Cofepris). She has been recognized by Chambers and Partners Global, Chambers and Partners Latin America, and The Legal 500.
